The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions to MBA across the country.

The All-India Management Association (AIMA) is the apex body for management in India with over 38000 members and close to 6000 corporate /institutional members through 66 Local Management Associations affiliated to it. The AIMA was formed over 60 years ago as a non-lobbying, not for profit organisation with a main intention to work closely with industry, Government, academia and students, to foster the cause of the management profession in India.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

MAT exam is an objective test and is one of the most popular national level MBA entrance exams in India that is conducted every year for MBA admissions. The aspiring students can take up the MAT exam four times a year and can join the top management colleges in the country. Nearly more than 600 top MBA colleges across the country are accepting the MAT scores for MBA admissions. 

The MAT is a national level entrance test that gauges the ability of the candidates that is necessary to get admission into MBA programmes across colleges of India. The candidates are given admission to MBA based on their scores secured in the MAT exam. 

The MAT exam is approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India and is accepted by the majority of the B-Schools and management institutes across India. The MAT exam is one of the largest MBA entrance exams and has a higher acceptability rate than any other MBA entrance exams in the country.

Eligibility

The students who have completed their degree in any stream with 50% aggregate and are interested to join MBA courses in top colleges of the country can apply for the MAT exam every year.

Exam Format and Syllabus

The MAT exam consists of 2 modes, the Online (Computer Based Test) and Offline (Paper Based Test) mode. The MAT exam paper will have 200 multiple choice questions (MCQs) and total time allotted in 150 minutes or 2.5 hours.

Mode of Exam

The MAT exam is conducted in 2-modes:

1.Online Mode

The MAT Online Internet Based Test (IBT) mode is conducted by AI and Human proctored home-based online exam. The students interested in giving online exams are required to visit the specific exam centres for giving online MAT exam.

2.Offline Mode

The students interested in giving the MAT offline Paper Based Test (PBT), should attend the respective exam centres to give the offline or paper based MAT exam.

What’s New in the MAT Exam?

The MAT Exam has the following update:

  • A new section about Indian and Global Environment is added that mainly consists of questions related to environment, environment pollution (Indian and Global), sustainable environment etc 

  • This section does not have negative marking and marks obtained in this section is added to the overall score
