Introduction
The government has announced a new plan termed SHRESHTA (Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas) to provide seats for deserving SC boys and girls in the country's top private residential schools.
The SHRESHTA (NETS) – 2022 (NETS) consists of a single paper divided into four sections: Mathematics, Science and Social Science, and General Awareness/Knowledge.
The examination is held for admission to the finest private residential schools in the country under Residential Education for students in targeted high schools.
Funding
100% funding is provided by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Availability
The project anticipates that around (3000) pupils will be selected for entrance to Class 9 and Class 11 each year.
Eligibility
- Student belonging to Scheduled Castes, studying in class 8th and 10th in the current academic year
- Parent’s annual income is upto Rs. 2.5 lacs.
- Examination based Scholarship

Mode of Application
- Candidates can apply for SHRESHTA (NETS) 2022 through the “Online” mode only
- Submission of Application Form could be made by the candidate online through the NTA website: https://shreshta.nta.nic.in.
- SHRESHTA (NETS) 2022 will be conducted in pen and paper mode (offline).
- Counselling and seat allotment will be under the Ministry of Education, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
