CLAT Counselling 2023- First Seat Allotment Announced

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to Undergraduate and Postgraduate law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities (NLU) in India. CLAT is organised by the Consortium of National Law Universities, composed of typical universities.  

Admissions to the 5- Year Integrated LLB and LLM programmes shall be through CLAT for the academic year 2023-24. Candidates who have registered for the admissions counselling process can check on the official website- consortiumofnlus.ac.in for their seat allotment result.

CLAT 2023 was held on 18-12-2022 in 23 States and 2 Union Territories at 127 test centres across the Country. Final answer key was released on 22-12-2022. 240 students have been named in the list for bachelors programme at NLSIU, Bangalore, a top choice among students. There are around 29 colleges offering a degree in the five-year integrated law programme.

Steps to Check the Allotment Result:

• Step 1: Visit the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in
• Step 2: Search and Click on the Seat allotment Round 1 link given on the home page
• Step 3: Fill in your credentials like login id and password correctly and submit it
• Step 4: CLAT 2023 seat allotment results will be displayed on the screen
• Step 5: Candidate who has been allotted a seat at any NLU has to choose any of the three options: Freeze, Float, or Exit to complete the allotment process

Freeze Option:

Candidates who are completely satisfied and agree to the seats allotted to them should click on the freeze option and pay the confirmation fees between 18-01-23 and 22-01-23. Candidates who opted  the freeze option and paid the fee will not be considered in subsequent rounds of counselling.

Float Option:

Candidates who are not satisfied with the seat allotted to them and wanting to get a higher preference NLU seat must choose the float option. In this case, the candidate can hold the seat allotted to them and if they are allotted a higher preference NLU seat in a subsequent counselling round, they shall move to the more preferred NLU. Candidates after choosing the float option can pay the confirmation fee between 18-01-23 and 22-01-23. 

Exit Option:

Candidates who don’t want to accept the allotted seat and also don’t want to participate in any further rounds of the counselling process can opt for the exit option. In this case, the allocated seat will be reallocated and the candidate will not be offered a seat in any of the subsequent rounds.

NOTE: 

• While reserving the seat, the general category candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 30,000/-. Students under the category of ST, SC, OBC, EWS and PwD should pay Rs. 20,000/-
• As per the schedule, the last date of admission under the first admission list is 22-01-23 up to 10:30 pm.
