In the major boost to encourage girls’ education in Karnataka, the state Government has announced permanent fee exemption for girls, from nursery to post-graduation in government schools and colleges from this academic year 2022-23. The Department of School Education and Literacy is permanently exempting the annual fees for girl students of government pre-university (PU) colleges from the academic year of 2022-23.
The Department of School Education and Literacy officials stated that the department till now was providing a sum of ₹456 to each girl per year. This amount will be paid to the principal’s account, which in turn, will be credited as a fee. With the latest order, the exemption will become a permanent feature, eliminating the need to issue an order each year for government pre-university girl students.
