Verification Engineer: A verification engineer’s job captures the verification stage of the overall chip manufacturing process. The verification engineer’s task is to verify the design and make sure that the design works properly. There is always a massive demand for this position because verification does not require a fully-fledged semiconductor lab. Almost 70% of the embedded systems jobs are in the verification department.

CAD Engineer: As a CAD engineer one is responsible for managing the license and EDA tools. One will also evaluate EDA solutions and methodologies. Additionally, one will be asked to integrate various EDA tools and develop workflows. He/she will work in tandem with design and design verification teams. Additionally, one will also be required to work with the EDA vendors and will be responsible for driving improvements in the work environments for other players of the SoC/Chip design team.

Application Engineer: As an application engineer one is responsible for the interface between the R&D and customers. One needs to know how to interact with others. This job demands excellent interpersonal skills and a lot of traveling. If one feels that he/she is highly communicative, good presenter, good at building relationships and good at technologies, etc., then they are the right candidates for this job.
