Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Technical Degree) - AICTE SCHOLARSHIPS

Introduction

The ‘Pragati Scholarship Scheme’ is primarily given to the girls for encouraging them to take up technical degrees. This scholarship is given to provide financial assistance for the educational advancement of girls pursuing technical education. The scholarship is an attempt to give young women the opportunity to extend their technical studies and become successful in the future. The scholarship is given for Empowering Women through Technical Education by AICTE.

Funding

The scholarship is 100% funded by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

Availability

Each year about 5,000 of the ‘Pragati Scholarships’ provided for the girls taking admission in both regular and lateral entry options for technical education in all the AICTE approved Institutions across the country.

Eligibility

• The girl students should be admitted to the first year of degree under regular mode or second year of degree under lateral entry mode in any of the AICTE approved Institutes in the academic year
• A maximum of 2 girl children in a family are eligible for ‘Pragati Scholarship’  
• The family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 Lakhs per annum
• A valid income certificate issued by the State/ UT Government needs to be enclosed

Duration

• The scholarships shall be provided for the entire course of the academic year. It is given for complete 4-years in case of the girls taking admission under regular mode, and a maximum of 3-years in the case of girls taking admission under lateral entry mode.

Benefits

• Rs. 50,000 of finance benefits are provided under the ‘Pragati Scholarship’ to the girl child. The amount is given for the maximum of 4 years in case of girl students admitted under regular mode and maximum of 3 years for the girl students admitted under lateral entry mode. The amount is given in lump sum towards the payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment, software etc
• The scholarship will be renewed every year until the completion of the course i.e., 4-years in case of regular mode and 3-years in case of lateral entry mode. The scheme can be renewed every year through the National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate/ marksheet along with a letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.

Mode of Application

The girl students fulfilling the eligibility criteria are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process and notice to be published on AICTE website.

Documents Required

• Mark Sheet of Class X/XII/equivalent as applicable.
• Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by not below the rank of Tahsildar.
• Admission Letter issued by Directorate of Technical Education for the admission in Diploma/Degree course.
• Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
• Tuition fee receipt.
• AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
• Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC Category.
• AADHAR Card
• Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage.
