Tamil Nadu adds new MBBS Seats

Tamil Nadu added 1,450 MBBS seats from the academic year 2021-22 after the Union health ministry granted approval for 150 more seats in four government medical colleges of the state on Thursday. With the addition of 600 new MBBS seats from all the four medical colleges (150 each), in Tamil Nadu the number of MBBS seats has increased to 1,450.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Tamil Nadu stated that the Union health ministry has approved 150 new seats in the government medical colleges of Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Nagapattinam and Ariyalur to increase MBBS seats across the country under the new initiative of NEP 2020.

The Ministry of Higher Education Tamil Nadu further stated that with the approval of 1,450 new MBBS seats, the total number of medical seats in Tamil Nadu state has increased to 9,100.
