MCC puts temporary hold on MDS Counselling Round 1

Last Updated: 28-08-2021

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has temporarily put on hold the NEET-MDS 2021 counselling to seek a clarification from the Supreme Court regarding the impact of a recent Madras High Court judgment regarding the quota for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The dates for NEET-MDS counselling were announced by the MCC recently as starting from August 20 and ending by October 10, 2020. The Madras High Court passed an order on August 25, and held that EWS quota in NEET counselling can be implemented only with the approval of the Supreme Court.

In the order passed by the Hon'ble High Court of Madras, the MCC sought a legal opinion from the Supreme Court. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has put on hold the MDS counselling for legal clarification.

So as per the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Round-1 of MDS Counselling 2021 is temporarily being put on hold. The counselling process will be resumed only after clarification and approval of the Hon'ble Supreme Court.
