As the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2022 results were plagued by controversy, with repeaters challenging the removal of their pre-university (PU) marks, on Monday Karnataka Examination Authority announced to postpone the verification process for engineering admission, which was supposed to begin from August 5, 2022.

The revised dates will be announced shortly, the KEA Quoted

On Monday students and parents protested demanding "Justice for CET Repeaters'' who gathered around the KEA office at Malleswaram. As KEA "assured" CET overall rank is based on 50% of PU Marks and 50% of CET Score. Where this year the evaluation of repeaters was calculated based only on their CET Score, said the protesters.

Due to the Pandemic, the PUC department passed all the students in 2021. As a result, the CET Rank was based on their CET Score in 2021. PU students who wanted to better their rank took a year gap and appeared in this year's CET Exam were disappointed as their rank were only based on CET Scores.

Students and parents observed good rank in the previous year compared to this year. As last year students who ranked below 20,000 scored much less than this year, even after scoring better they ranked above 1 Lakh, which resulted in this protest. Parents felt KEA has let down the repeaters; now the students have no option of getting good engineering colleges with this rank other than taking a year gap again.

However, according to parents and students, the evaluation of CBSE repeat students was based on 50 % marks in their board exam and 50% of their CET score, which questioned them "why not the same with PU repeaters". To which KEA authorities said, as there were surprisingly 24000 repeaters for CET this year, the evaluation will be reviewed.

As it's not one or two students, around 24000 students have repeated the exam this year and were not aware of KEA not considering PU marks for their CET Rank. Parents have decided to request for a judicial stay on the verification process, as they believe, the Court can only resolve this issue.
