IIM Bangalore to offer entrepreneurship training for SC, ST women graduates

In the major move to boost the entrepreneurship mindset in the backward class womens, the IIM-Bangalore in association with Karnataka Government will offer entrepreneurship training from this academic year 2022-23. 

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore's Executive Education Programmes (EEPs) is offering an entrepreneurship training certificate programme for women graduates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities by collaborating with the Karnataka state government. The IIM-Bangalore officials stated that the first batch of the IIM-B training programme will start on August 16, 2022.

The objective of the programme developed by IIM Bangalore is to help existing entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Women from Karnataka with any degree in any subject and are below the age of 45 years, those belonging to the SC or ST category are eligible to apply for the IIM Bangalore entrepreneurship certification training programme. 

An online aptitude test will be conducted by the institute to select the candidates. Based on the test results, 300 candidates will be selected for the IIM Bangalore certificate programme. The duration of the IIM-B certificate programme is five to six months and the classes will be conducted in a hybrid mode that includes in-person on-campus sessions, and live, online sessions. 

The IIM-Bangalore officials further stated that the institute will facilitate boarding and lodging during the on-campus training. The programme will be delivered in the English language. The state government will also give a stipend to the candidates for travel expenses based on the attendance of the trainees.
