Manufacturing Science and Engineering is the specialisation that came out of mechanical engineering courses. The course essentially covers the study of the concepts and processes involved in manufacturing functions. The course focuses on various subjects such as casting and solidification, material behaviour, ceramic forming surface, powder metallurgy and interface phenomena, coatings and surface engineering, composite materials etc. The course is a combination of electric, electronics and mechanical engineering.

The course mainly focuses on research and development processes, machines, tools and equipment. Manufacturing science and engineering is the collaboration of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, materials management and operations management.
