Biosciences and engineering is the application of the life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and engineering principles to define and solve problems in biology, medicine, healthcare and other fields. Biosciences engineering is a relatively new discipline that combines many aspects of traditional engineering fields such as chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering. The biosciences engineering is the confluence of engineering, biological sciences and technology, directed at improving the quality of healthcare, human life and medicine.
The objective of the course is to integrate technology with the medical sciences in such a manner that the synergistic relationship between them can help evolve a better system for medical diagnosis, research, treatment and support systems. The students are trained to devise algorithms for successful and objective interpretation of biological data. The course imparts advanced lessons in biomedical electronics, analytical and quantitative skills required in interpreting the data acquired and in processing medical data including imaging and enhancement techniques.
