Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS) is an undergraduate programme that covers in-depth medical knowledge of the homeopathic system. The course is of 5.5-years duration. The main aim of the course is to cover the theoretical and practical knowledge of the homeopathic system. Homeopathy is based on the self-healing power of our bodies and focuses on accounting for that.
Homeopathy is treatment based on the use of highly diluted substances which practitioners claim can cause the body to heal itself. Homeopathy is basically a complementary or alternative medicine different from treatments that are part of conventional western medicine in important ways.
BAMS vs BHMS: Course Duration and Fees
The duration of both BAMS and BHMS is 5.5 years, with 4.5-years of academic and 1-year mandatory internship. There is a huge demand for a BAMS course when compared to a BHMS course. So,the fees for a BAMS course depend upon colleges and it is higher when compared to a BHMS course. Usually, the merit seats through counselling sessions will be the same across all the colleges. BAMS vs BHMS: Admission Process and Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility and admission process is same in both the cases, the students who have completed their PUC or 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology as core subjects with 50% aggregate marks from recognised boards are eligible to apply for BAMS and BHMS.
The students looking for admissions to BAMS and BHMS courses have to qualify the NEET-UG exam and have to undergo the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) counselling sessions, to apply for merit seats.
