MD Admission Process in Karnataka

Eligibility Criteria for MD
● A student needs to have a valid Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduation certificate from the medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI)
● The MBBS college that has provided the certificate to the students should be recognized by the Medical Council of India
● The student should score at least 50% marks in the final year of MBBS graduation exams

Eligibility Criteria for NEET PG Exam
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) postgraduate (PG) is a national level offline pen and paper examination conducted by the NBE for Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses in Government and private medical colleges in India. The NEET PG examination is also compulsory for Indian students who want to pursue their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree abroad.
The NEET PG Examination is conducted for Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses in seats in Government colleges, central Universities, private institutes, and deemed universities in India. 50% of All India Quota seats, 50% State Quota seats[1] , all the seats in case of Jammu and Kashmir, seats in Central and Deemed Universities, and Armed Forces Medical Services institutions are filled through NEET PG.
The application procedure:
● The candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks in their MBBS medical degree
● The candidates should have a minimum of 45% marks in their MBBS medical degree for candidates who are physically handicapped
● The candidates should have a minimum of 40% marks in their MBBS medical degree for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC)
● The candidate should have the permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council (SMC)
● The candidate should have completed 1 year of internship
● Indian citizens/Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their medical education from outside India have to qualify in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by NBE and have to complete their internship
Admission Procedure in Karnataka
Admissions for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course in Karnataka medical colleges are based on the NEET PG Entrance Examination results followed by KEA/MCC Counselling rounds. The appearance of the candidate in the entrance exam and participation in the KEA/MCC Counselling process is compulsory. After the Counselling Sessions, candidates will be allotted the seats as per the All India Merit List and Rank obtained by them in the examination. Once the fee payments and college formalities are completed, the candidates will have to report to the college when the academic year begins.
Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) Counselling Process
This is a Merit Counselling process for the students seeking admission to government and private medical colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Karnataka. Through the NEET Karnataka State Counselling, seats in medical colleges of Karnataka are allotted to the NEET PG qualified candidates:
85% of the State Quota seats in Karnataka are filled through the NEET Karnataka State Counselling
Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) Counselling Process
This is a Merit Counselling process for the students seeking admission to government colleges, aided colleges, and deemed-to-be-universities in India. Through the NEET MCC Counselling, seats in these colleges and universities of India are allotted to the NEET PG qualified candidates:
15% of the All India Quota seats and seats in Deemed Colleges are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
Selection Method
● Candidates must have qualified in NEET PG Exam
● The qualifying candidates must appear in the KEA/MCC Counseling process.
● On the basis of the rank scored by the candidates, they will be allowed to appear in the 15% and 85% quota.
● The medical authority of Karnataka is designated to conduct the counseling process for 85% of the state quota seats
● The central medical authority of the country is designated to conduct the counseling process for 15% of the All India Quota seats and seats in all deemed colleges
● Candidates have an opportunity to choose colleges according to their individual preferences during the counseling round
● For the seat allotment process, it is obligatory for every candidate to participate in the counseling rounds.
● Reporting to the allocated college and submission of the admission fee will confirm the seats of candidates
● If the document of any candidate is found inadequate the college has the full authority to call off the admission of the candidate
